About Sarah Ritter Democrat for State Rep

Sarah Ritter is a Lexington native who accomplished much before deciding to run for Representative in Kentucky’s 93rd District, which represents southwestern Fayette County.

Ritter currently works in tourism and economic development for VisitLEX. Previously, she worked in the Beshear Administration in the Governor’s Office of Legislative Affairs and the Governor’s Office of Boards and Commissions.

“One of the things you learn pretty quickly in Frankfort is that the most effective legislators are the ones who understand the process and know the people. I’ve seen firsthand how things work and know I can be effective on day one,” Ritter said of her time in state government.

She has also been active in Democratic Politics, working on several campaigns and serving in leadership with the Fayette County and Kentucky Young Democrats (YDs).

“I have wanted to run for office for as long as I can remember, and the election of Representative Rachel Roarx, who is my age, made me realize that you are never too young to contribute.”

As a State Representative, Ritter plans to focus on issues that affect everyday Kentuckians, especially young people: healthcare, affordable housing, and fostering economic development for the next generation of Kentuckians.

Ritter is very close with her parents, Kathy and David of Lexington, her two brothers, and their families. She graduated from Henry Clay High School and the University of Kentucky.
